Golf in the Philippines – Popular Paradise Greens

6 November 2011 No Comment

The Republic of the Philippines, a South East Asian archipelago composed of more than 7,000 islands in the western Pacific Ocean, is what may some consider a cultural hub. A melting pot of western and eastern ideals and practices, this diverse country always has something to suit anybody and everyone’s needs. One particular and surprising facet of the Philippines is golfing, with its numerous and outstanding courses it has offer.

If you do have the chance to visit this warm, hospitable country, take the chance to tee off at this paradise greens:

Wack Wack Golf and Country Club
Founded in the year 1930, the Wack Wack Golf and Country club is one of the oldest golf clubs in the Philippines. Located in the metropolitan area of Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, this club’s well-maintained course is accentuated by its accessibility. And don’t let the term “one of the oldest golf clubs in the Philippines” fool you. The Wack Wack Golf and Country Club takes its pride from holding prestigious golfing events, such as the Philippine Golf Open Championships, Asian Circuit and World Cup, to name a few.

Canlubang Golf and Country Club
Undeniably containing the two largest golf courses that the Philippines has to offer, the Canlubang Golf and Country Club provides a balance between beauty and challenge. The golf courses (north and south), designed by famous course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., has strategically placed sand traps, man-made lakes and ravines, coupled by the challenging wind speeds, to challenge even expert golfers. The behemoth, yet gracefully lined with coconut trees, golf courses are located just south of Metro Manila.

Leyte Golf and Country Club
Located in the Visayas, one of the three, geographical island divisions in the Philippines, the Leyte Golf and Country Club provides a much more relaxed playing ambiance. Laid-back and simple, the 18-hole golf course provides a view of nearby Ormoc bay.

Cebu Country Club
Now we’re talking premiere golfing. If you want to take your golfing experience to a new challenge – and appreciation – visit the Cebu Country Club. With lots of water hazards and the occasional wind burst – strong ones, at that – the golf course’s beautiful landscape and challenge makes it an occasional choice for international and local tournaments.

The Philippines is home to paradise golfing. From having golf courses right in the middle of a hustlin’ and bustlin’ city, to some hidden in the deep provinces, you’d be surprised at the places you can actually play in this country. Take note of these sites, so that you can enjoy golf at its best state.
